We are Christ the King-Epiphany Church, a congregation that brings together the best of the Lutheran and Episcopal traditions. We worship Jesus Christ as Lord, who is one with God the Creator and present with us in the Holy Spirit. We are spiritually led by our priest/pastor the Rev. Martha Sipe, and the bishops of both the New England synod (ELCA) and the Diocese of Western Massachusetts (TEC). Our governance is democratic, meaning that when we make big decisions, we vote on them.
Our lay people, who are responsible for most of the mission and ministry of the congregation, form the backbone of this church. They are mostly from the greater Wilbraham/Springfield area and come from many backgrounds. Some have been Episcopalians all their lives. Others have been Lutherans for generations. Some are retired, some are working, and some are children in school. Some are brand new and are seeking a faith community that will feed their souls and spirits and also make a difference in the world. We are an open and inclusive congregation, with members who are LGBTQ. Together we make it all work, with a sense of humor and compassion, in a Christ-centered way.
Recognizing the unity of all people in Christ, we celebrate and rejoice in our diversity as people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, races, cultures, ages, physical abilities, mental abilities, marital status, family configuration, faith history, economic status, education, and immigration status. We are committed to and supportive of efforts to promote racial equity and social justice.
We invite you to join us in participation in the rites and sacraments of the church and our mission to serve our community, give thanks and praise to God, and bear the good news of Jesus Christ to all the world.
At Christ the King-Epiphany Church, we have a place for you!
